What We Do
Jacaranda Health is a non-profit that works
to improve quality of care in public hospitals –
where the vast majority of low income women
deliver their babies.
Alongside the Ministry of Health
and [foundations] we adapt
and replicate our innovations.
Our innovations are low-cost
and therefore sustainable
and scalable in public health system.
Jacaranda Maternity is our social enterprise maternity hospital
which is growing as a model for the private sector.
Jacaranda Maternity … blah blah blah
Anchor MHealth and Nurse mentorship program are being delivered across 3 counties and 45 hospitals and health centres.
30,000 babies delivered in 2018 through our innovations
In 2018 we were awarded a 2 year grant by Grand Challenges Canada to support our expansion.
Nurse Mentorship Program
Our nurse training, leadership and capacity building program ensures providers have
the skills to deliver the best service. We also provide onsite mentorship for general
and emergency obstetric care.
SMS PROMPTS Program
Our SMS tools inform and educate pregnant women and mothers
so that they seek care at the appropriate time.
PROMPTS is an evidence-based SMS post-partum package that
positively influences care-seeking behaviours at critial moments.
Tested with 4500 women at Jacaranda and 5 government hospitals.
When PROMPTS is fully integrated within the health system, costs can be reduced to $0.13
through bulk SMS services and the use of intelligent technology such as chatbots.
